Aug 22, 2017 Even Old Nan telling stories about ‘ice spiders' made me itch to fetch my Manual and look for a picture. It got a little hairy later, as White Walkers, giants and the Children of the Forest entered the picture, presenting more challenges, but also the stuff from the backpages of the manual, the stuff no one uses.

20, 85 -- Lordamere Internment Camp (in Alterac Mountains)Comment by 23118
3 of the 4 npcs you need to kill are at the internment camp. The 4th one is in the next door building at 17,83. If you're in the area, you might as well do Stone Tokens as well. (https://classic.wowhead.com/?quest=556)Comment by 45595
This can be done at Lordamere Internment Camp (21,83). This should be done together with Stone Tokens since you'll be killing a lot of those Dalaran Shield Guards and Theurgists.Ricter who drops the Bloodstone Marble can be found at 19,84.
Alina who drops the Bloodstone Shard can be found at 20,86.
Dermot who drops the Bloodstone Wedge can be found at 19,85.
Kegan Darkmar who drops the Bloodstone Oval can be found at 17,83.

Soloed as 31-1/2 hunter (levelled mid-way through the quest). As previous poster said, trick with with shield guard is to stop meleeing while their red shield is up. As a hunter, you can keep shooting at them though, just put your pet on Stay while the shield is up. With this strategy, I was able to take two on at a time. The last NPC for quest was level 35. The mob guarding was harder than the quest NPC (fortunately, the quest NPCs are not auto-aggro). The guarding mob was a spellcaster that would sheep me. If you're a hunter, keep your pet healed so that they can keep the attack on while sheeped.
The three quest NPCs will run earlier than most mobs (i.e., they have more health than usual when they decide to run away). This can be a pain if they run and bring friends, so have a strategy in mind to keep them running too far.

In the journal dropped by the 36 spellcaster its mentions that a bloodstone pendant was lost in the ruins around Dalaran. Has anyone found this thing and if so, could they post its location.Comment by Thottbot
i got the quest as a lvl 35 sham thought it would be easy walked in and went @#$%@#$%! after having 1 lvl 31 shield dude take me down to half life. then i realized that they hurt you when you hurt them and stopped melee ing them. but i just read the diary. is it meant to start a quest? do i go searching dalaran for a pendant?or is it there just to describe the stones and to be annoying?

THE COORDS ARE 20,85 ON THE ALTERAC MOUTAINS MAP! 3 OF THEM ARE IN 1 ONCE THE OTHER 1 IS IN THE OTHER HOUSE! KILL THE YELLOW GUS! THE ONES THAT WONT ATTACK YOU!Comment by Thottbot
Confirming the coordinates that is written above. I found 3 of the forsaken undead in the first quite large camp , and the last one in the large house south of the first one. I did this with a level 39 mage and had no problems. found a reasrch journal on of the mages, not sure what to do with it yet, but will keep it in the bank just in cast it comes handy. happy huntingComment by Thottbot
Mobs are in 'Lordamere Internment Camp' area which is directly north of Hillsbrad Fields. Kill the yellow con mobs that are in the camp and the three story house beside it.Comment by Thottbot
Did this last night as lvl34 (affliction) Warlock. Quite easy really. Pick off the wandering guards first, slip into first compound take them on 1 at a time if poss, use your succubus to seduce any adds. One Undead (yellow tagged) in the yard to the right. Two more in the hut in front of you. The last undead is in the second hut outside the stockade on the 2nd floor. When you get to the last room pull the guard from downstairs, kill them. Then Seduce the lvl 35 undead while you kill the lvl36 mage. Fight your way out.Comment by Thottbot
17,83 top room in second house watch out for guardComment by Thottbot
Not easy to solo under level 34, due to the last NPC mob. First of, what the #$@% is up with the stupid wall hack the caster mobs have? As you go into the building with the mage, the casters will keep sending ghosts at you. While attacking you, they are behind a wall and cannot be seen or counterattacked. Someone tell Blizz this is seriously messed up. You have to move all the way into the far corner of the building to draw them close enough to attack. The mage is upstairs. When you go upstairs, you will be bumrushed by a 35/36 mage and two or three 33/34 mobs. The mage also has a polymorph (sheep) attack, if you are a hunter or a warlock she can sheep you while the mobs are killing your pet. Not fun to solo. With a group would be no sweat.
Comment by Thottbot
The first three undeads are in the area of the building enclosed with a big fence. One is outside the building(mages and warriors patrol) and two are inside the building. Those were easier to kill, but the last one was tricky. I was able to do it on my second try though as a 31 shaman. The last mob is upstairs of the second story building on the other side of the fence. you have to fight your way through a couple of mobs but you should see a door on the opposite side of the room. There are two more guys in the room when you go through the door and you can see some stairs. after you kill those guys go up the stairs where there is one warrior, and a 36 mage Warden. I was able to kill here fairly easy as a shammy. just put down a searing totem and earth shocked her whenever she was trying to cast a spell. I also used my Stomp(lol love druids!) Repeated that until i killed her. Then regained mana and health, then just killed the last undead guy and got the jewel thing.Comment by Thottbot
Solo'd this quest as a 30 hunter. Pet died almost 6 times. This was no doubt but one of the hardest quests i've seen in a while. The first 3 gems are easy to get to but the last one was the one that caused the most trouble. First I cleared the area around the house and went in. If your a hunter use Feign Death wisely. I used it quite a lot and it saved me. Glad my hearth was ready cus there's no way I was about to even try to get back outta there.Comment by Thottbot
Forget the guards for the stone token quest, for much easier drops kill the mages and workers. They are west and a little north of the camp, closer to the purple shield. (loc 13,78 ish)The mages drop easy, and so do the workers.
That said, the guards ARE fairly easy if you stop meleeing them when they pop their shield up (which only lasts 4 seconds or so anyways).
Comment by Thottbot
Just did this q with my 31 mage. The last NPC on the first floor can be pulled alone. You have to find the point on the stairs where you are not in LoS of the 39 mage (otherwise she will add), but you will get in LoS of the q NPC, who is walking around up there.Comment by Allakhazam
Hey uh so i got all the other 3 shards but just were do i get the Oval?Comment by Allakhazam
Solo'ed this last night with my 32 priest. Even after reading this, I wasn't quite prepared for the adds through fences and floors. In the end, they all died, I didn't. :)The first three were easy. The named mobs who carry the quest pieces are yellow so they don't aggro unless attacked (thankfully).
I jumped down from the hillside to the back of the one-story building. Killed two patrols, then went inside and killed the two named. No other mobs were inside the one-story building. I then went to the front and killed the guard in the courtyard, then the named. 3/4 bloodstones looted (Bloodstone Marble, Shard, and Wedge).
The Bloodstone Oval drops off the named, Kegan Darkmar, who is on the 3rd floor of the taller of the two buildings. Killed two patrols outside, and at the same time I aggro'ed a theurgist through the fence from the courtyard on the other side. Made things difficult since I couldn't see where she was, just the continuous swarm of spirits she sent over. She finally bled over to where I was and I killed her.
Walked into the building (first floor) and was attacked by 2 mobs. Killed them.
One of the best advice for this that I read from Bakamon's post was to med to full after each floor. I really wanted to do this, except I aggro'ed the 2 mobs from the next floor as I was medding up. Killed them, and ran up to the 2nd floor. I should have learned from the first floor. I aggro'ed 2 of the 3rd floor mobs, and was fortunately able to eek by and kill them.
I thought that was more or less the end. I sat down to med to full, then I ran upstairs. There was Kegan.and another red mob. After the previous two floors, this was relatively easy. 4/4 bloodstones. I shielded, cast renew, and ran out. The first floor had respawned.
Ran just across the way to finish up the Bracers of Binding quest.

The coordinates given earlier (20,83) take you to Purgation Isle. The guards at the only area accessible by water are ? to a 42. How are all the low 30s characters getting by these guards who attack as you near the dock?Never mind - the coordinates are within the Alterac Mtn, not the Hillsbrad Foothills.

I just went through this as my undead mage at lvl 32.Getting to the top was a piece of cake with sheep, took out the 2 casters on first floor, sheeped one and worked on the other.
then same plan for next floor, sheeped one shield guard, killed the other and moved on.
Then i had top floor, i found if i stood on the stove in the room, i could cast and pull the top 2 guards, where i repeated with sheep.
after that just rested up, killed the 26 after counterspelling her tough fireballs and then killed the 35. Done Deal.

did this as a lvl 31 lock realy easy even the lvl 36 mage was easy with alot of fears :)Comment by Allakhazam
I'm not really sure if this is a common glitch or just happened to me, or if its even a glitch. But I had finished the quest and walked out of the house where you get the oval and i aggrod one of the summoners from through the fence in the other camp. Im a lvl 36 warlock so im not sure if i was supposed to aggro, but the summoner ran around the fence and brought the entire camp with it! Just thought I'd let ya know! :DComment by Allakhazam
I am a 33 rogue and I solo, well I ahve had the quest for stone tokens at the time and this is why I came to the internment camp anyways. well, I stealthed around checking stuff out checked out here got some info about the deflectors, and well it was quite easy, the first I took out were the two in side the first building the one story barrracks quite easy; pickpocket, ambush, sinister strike a few times, kidney punch, backstab, dead. same with the one outside except this one ran away so I chased him luckily the patroling sheild guards were walikng away, died. after reading here I was like omg the other guy is 36 what? I can't do it. but hey i tried, went over to the three story building had np getting to third story stair well but at the top were two sheild guards so a quick distract ran by. hugged the wall to the table across from the 36 mage and the last deflector, used distract again and pp the 36 sap her, attacked the deflector took him down to about 345 and then he runs off aggros the other two that I had to distract on way up, killed the deflector accidently hit the sheild guard, looted and vanished out of there. mission completeComment by Allakhazam
im confused why other posters, actualy fought the named mob. i shoot my bow and pulled kegen single. named didnt even aggro, and i didn't have to fight it. -->the undead guys in quest dont aggro the humans<--get a clue newbs.
Comment by Allakhazam
After killing the named mob upstairs, I picked up a notebook from her that states that the one Forsaken lost his bloodstone in the Dalaran ruins. Is it actually there, or is this an irrelevant item, or what?Comment by Allakhazam
Do do this quest:You will have to kill 4 passive undead, they all drop a different part of the bloodstones.
Go to the Internal base camp (21,84) in Alterac Mountains (the coords are the ones in Alterac Mountains)
Kill Ricter, a lvl 33 undead that is passive
Go inside the building (20,86)
Kill Alina, a lvl 33 undead
Still in the building, kill Dermot, a lvl 34 undead
Then go to 18,83 in the building.
Go up the stairs (there will be some 2 mobs pull, so watch yourself)
Kill all the guards (including the Warden Belamoore, lvl 36 human)
Kill Kegan Darkmar, a lvl 35 undead, that will drop the last part.
DONE

Just did this as a level 32 Shaman. Getting the 1st three quest items were pretty easy since they were all fairly close.Getting up the three story building was kind of a pain since it required fighting 2 mobs at once on the of the stories heading up.
Once I got to the top I took out the level 36 first. I alternated useage of Earth Shock and Grounding totem so she was pretty much just a level 36 cloth wearing human. Pretty easy over all.
I didn't look at the last prisoners level before I attacked him, but he was 3/4 dead when I noticed he was 35. Just frost shocked him into the ground.
Through all of this I kept Searing Totem 3, Windfury Weapon, and Lightning Shield active where possible. The last fight I used all the above, Grounding Totem, Healing Spring Totem, and Earthskin Totem.

I did this quest and found one defector in the yard, two in the one story building (you can see them thru the hole in the roof), and the last one was on the top floor of 3 story building with a level 36 named. As a 33 mage, I sheeped the named, killed the mob, sheeped the named again, and ran while drinking botions.

None of these posts are useful at all. Give me Coords.Comment by Allakhazam
Being a 35 Hunter, I was able to pull the guards and kill them quite quickly with ranged weapons while my pet held agro. My pet took enormous damage though when the shield went up. Range damage, missle or nuke, bypasses the guards shield defense though. This area contains a stockade with a single story barracks and an adjacent 3 story building. Guards can be found in both, come in wandering and static variaties, and some are tied pairs and always attack together. There are also casters here that can be quite nasty, and a single Named in the 3rd story of the building. This area also contains the 4 defectors, each of which you need to find and kill for one of the 4 pieces required for quest completion.
First Defector is located in the stockade yard, the Second one is in the barracks. The third is on the first floor of the 3 story building, and the last is on the top floor of that building. Each floor of the buildings have at least 2 guards or casters. They may come to you in a pair. The top floor is the most challenging. The Named mob is there, is a caster, and drops a book detailing the information provided by the defectors.
As you start to progress thru the taller building, I suggest you pause after clearing each floor to regain full health and/or mana. Even at level 35, this was a challenge for my Hunter. The top floor with the Named was a close encounter. By the time I was finished with the quest, the first floor had started to respawn and I had to start fighting my way out.
Respawn of the guards takes a few minutes so you can move quite quickly thru the stockade, barracks, and most of the larger building before the respawns start. You will NOT get a PvP flag for killing here.
Luck to you.

As a 35 rogue,I had minimal difficulty with this mission. I just simply stealthed up to the third floor and did what I had to do.The whole time I completly disregarded the first two floors, those guards had no idea that I was even there. When I finished,I just simply hearthed back to Tarren Mill.Comment by Allakhazam
camp entrance is at 20,83Comment by Allakhazam
Did it easy with level 31 Hunter. The named theives run away, but they have no sense of direction, and usually can't make it out of the house, so you don't have to worry about aggro there. The Theurgists are extremely easy. Very low HP.

Beryl Mage Hunters can be found around 42,40. They have a special attack called Frost Cut, which reduces attack speed, cast speed and movement speed by 5% per stack. Each successful strike will apply a stack. Debuff has a 1 second duration so if the attack misses or is dodged, the entire stack will wear off.The drop rate of the keys is pretty decent as I got one after about 6 kills.
The prisons are located on the platforms. The one I used was at 41,42.

It's a really simple quest; First of all you have to kill Beryl Mage Hunters and get the Beryl Prison Key. Then, you have to right-click on the flying cube to release a prisoner. Congratulations! Go back to Libriarian Donathan to turn in the quest. As 'Moonfeather' said, Beryl Mage Hunters have a special attack called Frost Cut, which reduces attack speed, cast speed and movement speed by 5% per stack. They are really near to you. Just follow the path that leads down, and they are just a few yards ahead -easy to find them. Oh, and by the way, the quest's name rocks!

If you are having difficulty getting the key to drop try dropping your group. It appears to be a bug (?) in the current patch.I killed every mob in the area - three times - and got no key. After dropping group I got it on my second kill. It's like the quest thinks you're in a raid group when you're just in a normal party group. At any rate - once one of your group gets the key just join up, open the box and all group members will get the quest completed :)

This quest is definitely bugged. Killed off 30-40 beryl mage hunters with no key drop. Dropped the quest and almost gave up, but after running another quest in the area I gave it one more shot.
